Yep It was Easterley

Well it's been Easterley or North easterley on and off for about a week now and no sign of a let up. It's been fortunate that the wind strength has been quite low as well.  I have been scanning the forecasts very carefully in case the boat needs moving. But so far not too much to cause concern.

One of the upshots of Easterley wind is the detritus that ends up on our pristine beaches. Although mainly seaweed there are a few items for the seagulls to peck at.  This black backed gulls found a nice fishead to feed on.

Quiet mood on Friday

A very still day in Swanage Bay, hardly  a ripple on the water, with the sun glitening on the Perveril Ledge race.

Ominously the boats are facing East a sign of the wind to come?

And so the sailing season starts

April 8th and the it was time to bring Watanga back into the bay.  A pleasant journey with very little wind so motored all the way.  Some poor sole had gone aground in the Wareham Channel,  and was being helped by another vessel.  He didn't seem to perturbed and the tide was about to change anyway just an embarrassing start to the season.
We got back too late to join in the Thursday evening racing but it was nice to watch everyone enjoying themselves

Nice sunset too!
